OUR STUDIO

Melissa Stears is the principal designer at CANDRA lighting Ltd. She opted to specialise in Lighting design soon after graduating from architecture and urban design.

Her interest in the built environment and how light forms and transforms our relationship to it is why she decided to specialise on this facet of architecture.

Finding the perfect balance of the science behind light and the aesthetics of the visual environment is what sparked  her interest in working in this medium and she strives to achieve this balance on every project.

'Keeping people at the forefront of any design is essential in creating spaces that perform to all aspects of clients' expectations.'

LIGHTING COLLABORATION

We have been working collaboratively with other independent lighting designers since 2013.

The aim of creating this 'design hub' enables us to call upon different designers when and if necessary. This can be due to project size, complexity or site location.

The group believes that working together on the design and running of projects can result in a more supportive and seamless design process and more visually appealing end product.

Having over 50 years collective experience in natural and artificial lighting design, the team's knowledge of market trends, new technologies and environmental issues is key to a successful end product.

This know-how coupled with a good measure of imagination helps create designs that are elegant, enduring, sympathetic to the architectural style whilst also being cost effective, energy efficient and have minimal environmental impact.

Our lighting partners are based in various locations around the world. This enables us to support our clients wherever they are based.

WORKING WITHIN TEAMS

We pride ourselves in having a good working relationship with our clients and lead design teams. We believe this is what brings us constant repeat work.

Here are some of the teams and brands we have had the privilege  to work with.
